Camille Yeung (MFA, CUHK), stage name: Yan Wu Shuang (Chinese: 燕無雙), is the Co-founder of the “Red Caravan Cantonese Opera Troupe”. She was a DJ at CWCB, NYC and taught at the SUNY New Paltz; Hunter College; NYU as adjunct lecturer. She is also a culture teacher at the New York Oversea Community Affair Council (Taiwan) and a member of the Chinese editor team at Red Bean Cantonese Opera House, CA. In 2015, she was selected as a performing artist in the NYFA’s Traditional Art Group.
After moving to the United States, Yeung is committed to promoting Chinese cultures, and hopes that the young generation of Chinese and Americans can explore more Chinese cultures. In terms of opera, Yeung has participated in the performances at different places such as Hong Kong, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, New Jersey……etc., and performed Cantonese Opera at the ICEPN television station in New Jersey. She was invited to participate in the 2016 New York Art Foundation’s traditional art exhibition, and exhibited her Cantonese opera film with foreign traditional artists’ artworks together.
By invitations, she also participated in the “New Year”, “Asian Traditional Month” and the annual Beacon Art Fair at both NYC and Upstate New York; She also joined some events to promote Cantonese Opera art from primary schools to university levels and includes communities such as libraries.
In 2012, Camille and Alice were awarded the “Colorful China-Cantonese Opera” by the Dutchess County Arts Development Authority (DCAC) to promote the Cantonese Opera in New York. Same year she was interviewed for a Cantonese Opera Project at the Museum of American Chinese, NY. She also gave seminars and demonstrations at the Vassar College Music Department, International club of Marist College and NYU to introduce Cantonese Opera to let the mainstream American society have more chances to know and appreciate the Cantonese Opera Art.
In 2023, Camille’s performances mainly base on the communities’ services during the Chinese Festivals and Multicultural Festivals included: the 17th Annual Pre-Lunar Asian Fun Fun Festival, Tangram Mall, Flushing and the United Nations Women’s Guild Secretariat Group Multicultural Festival, UNWG SG, United Nations, Manhattan, NY and Garden Concert at Elizabeth Street Garden by thinkchinatown.org, NYC, NY
In 2024, Camille performed at Emerson Paramount Center in Boston. Camille & Alice Wong also win the Community Arts Grant from 2024 Statewide community regrant program in Mid-Hudson area.
About the Artist_ Camille Yeung (MFA)
Camille Yeung is a Hong Kong born contemporary visual artist and performing artist. Camille’s artwork is inspired and influenced by both Western and Oriental cultures. She likes to work with acrylic on canvas and mix media paper by using Chinese painting and watercolor painting techniques. Most of her works are abstract and imaginative. During college, she enjoyed creating three-dimensional artwork, mostly inspired by African art. Most of Camille’s art is related to nature or her experiences. As a Cantonese opera actress and an adjunct lecturer of Cantonese at the university, some of her works hide blessings in jyutping. Sometimes, the marks from her Chinese painting seal appear in her artworks, as which is not for the artist’s signature, but to include the seal’s marks in the composition as part of the painting. In addition, singing, meditation and planting also influence her artistic creation. Recently she likes to share joyful feelings with others through her works, and tries to include blessings to others. Camille has participated in various solo and group art exhibitions in the US and overseas. Her artworks were collected by the Hong Kong Museum of Modern Art, Hong Kong Housing Authority, and private collectors.

Rebirth
The Rebirth series is created in Camille’s early artist years. Those artworks use sperm and eggs to create a visual beating effect, describing the emergence of life.
Yin-yang
Camille creates her artworks using the theory of yin and yang to show a harmonious existence.
Cow
Camille likes to use a cow or calf as motifs because cows and calves give a very gentle and peaceful feeling.

Red Caravan Cantonese Opera Troupe
Alice Wong, stage name: Yoke-Siu-Sing, is the founder of the MHCCA Youth Orchestra and the Co-founder of the “Red Caravan Cantonese Opera Troupe”. An advocate for many traditional Chinese culture and art forms for more than two decades after she moved to New York from Canada. Being an active advocate and educator in Chinese arts and culture, she was invited to join executive boards and committees by the Arts Mid-Hudson, Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Southern Dutchess Regional Chamber of Commerce, Mid-Hudson Chinese Community Association, Northern Westchester Chinese School, Mid-Hudson Chinese Language Center, Asian Youth Committed to Excellence,(sponsored by the IBM Diversity Council). Her motivation and insights are to educate the Chinese-American generation in their Chinese culture and at the same time engage them in active involvement to promote the culture.
In 2008, she received the Dutchess County Executive Arts Award and many commendations as an Individual Art Patron. She is also a Presidential Volunteer Award Medal winner.
In 2012, With the innovative and creative artistry of “Colorful China-Cantonese Opera” Alice won the Project Grants award through DCAC Project Grant Fund from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts in International Performing Folk Art Category. Along with her counterpart Camille Yeung (燕無雙), they brought Cantonese Opera into public school classrooms, major corporate business world engaging diverse audiences and promoting cultural awareness in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Alice also appeared on radio and TV showcasing and promoting this traditional art.
Ever since joining the New Aces Cantonese Opera Troupe, she has toured and performed with the group within the five boroughs, New Jersey, and Boston, acting on various male character roles as well as female roles, expanding her repertoire with the Troupe, while she persistently engaged in educating and promoting Cantonese Opera by joining charitable performance and activities through A.A.A.C and Better Chinatown Society and many communities Chinese New Year celebration, including the annual show by the office of Senator Gordon. She was sought after as a guest speaker at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, inaugurating guest lectures to higher academic audiences. She is convinced and envisioned that through cooperation and participation, Cantonese opera will thrive in the States where it was transplanted by many of the well-seasoned and renowned master artists.
Yan Wushuang, formally known as Camille S.
